Yesterday I got an amazing Father’s Day present! On Sunday, June 21st, 2026, Discovery Publishers released The Zen Time Traveler: A Pilgrim’s Journey through the Koans, my speculative novel in the spiritual fantasy genre. The book is available on Barnes & Noble, Amazon and elsewhere, in various formats including Kindle, paperback, and hardcover versions.
Discovery Publishers continues to be a wonderful partner, providing editorial support and dazzling design and artwork. The book includes twelve full-color illustrations in the Japanese Sumi-e brush and ink style, and red Enso’s after each of the seventy-eight short chapters in the book. The cover is dramatic and enticing. Our last bit of good news from Discovery is that the book will be on display at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October. They are also featuring the book at the American Library Association conference in Chicago at the end of June.
Bela and I are busy setting up appearances at local bookstores and other venues. Check out our website’s Events page for a full list. We love to see familiar and friendly faces at these events.
You can do one thing that would be a big help: If you like the book, post reviews on Amazon, and Goodreads as soon as possible after reading. These reviews spread the word and improve the Amazon sales ranking of the book.
I thanked many people in the Acknowledgements section of The Zen Time Traveler. Now I’d like to thank all of you for your ongoing support of my and Bela’s writing careers. We are having a blast – it’s a wonderful, shared experience that opens new worlds for us.
Publication by Discovery Publishers is a big step up. We hope that our coauthored fantasy Wu Wei Warrior may also see publication soon.

- BOOK LAUNCH CELEBRATION! We’ll be hosting a party to celebrate the publication of The Zen Time Traveler on Sunday, July 12th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Engaged Mindfulness Institute (formerly the Shintaido Farm), 595B River Road in Deerfield, Massachusetts. Hope to see some of you there!
